What is a creative residency at Awake?
A creative residency is a curated living environment where people come for a defined period (typically one to three months) to work on a project alongside other aligned individuals. It is structured enough to hold you and open enough to let you direct your own days.
This is not a retreat. There is no packed schedule. The magic comes from shared living, shared meals, supportive classes and events, and proximity to others doing meaningful work. The common thread among residents is that we are people actively creating something.
That project can be anything. Building a software product. Writing a book. Deepening a relationship. Recovering from burnout and redesigning your life. Healing a heartbreak. You are your own creative project. A family is a creative project. You do not need a startup pitch deck. You need intention.
A place to live from what is real in you
We believe the next way of living is integral. Not just productive, not just spiritual, not just healthy. All of it, held together. Body, mind, soul, relationship, purpose, health. Not as separate goals to optimize, but as one living exploration of what it means to fully thrive.
This is a place for deepening presence. For the real exploration of spiritual awakening, not as a concept but as a lived practice. For creating, and not just creating, but creating from your true essence. From the source of life moving through you.
We are not interested in surface-level wellness or productivity theater. We are building a field where people come to discover what full, integral living actually feels like, and to create from that place.

Note: The dedicated co-working space is currently under development. Right now, residents work from their units or from Cafe Cora, which has good Wi-Fi and a creative atmosphere. The space is growing with us and early residents get to shape what it becomes.
The space
Riverfront jungle sanctuary
Awake sits on a riverfront property in Uvita, Costa Rica, the Pacific coast, Whale's Tail region. Multiple accommodation buildings are nestled along the river in a lush jungle setting.
Built for living, expanding and working
Fiber internet throughout the property. The Surya Shala, hosts most events. Cafe Cora, the social heart, serving food and drinks. Gardens, river swimming. Fifteen minutes from the beach, walking distance to Uvita town, restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets.

Ceremonies & Healing
Breathwork, cacao, sound healing, men's and women's work. The ceremonial rhythm emerges from who is living in the space. We skip the plant medicines to keep the mind sharp.
Sunday Community Dance Church
The heartbeat of the week. Every Sunday, a hundred people from across the region gather at Awake for Ecstatic Dance, a sober movement ritual that has been running for over four years. It is where the community meets, reconnects, and expands together.
Resident-initiated projects are encouraged
A filmmaker screening their work. A chef doing a pop-up dinner. A musician hosting a jam. A builder hosting a brainstorm session. A coder running a hackathon.

Rates are set by season — Green (May – Nov) is our low-demand window.
